For a nutritious, healthy and tasty breakfast
Do you know porridge ?In Italy it is not a very common preparation, it was born in England and is also used a lot in the United States, while in Europe, especially in the Mediterranean area, it is little known.
However, this is a very simple oat-based recipe, originally poor and extremely customizable according to your tastes.
Porridge in particular was born as a complete breakfast dish but there are many savoury versions, for example based on legumes, or with meat or other cereals.
It is basically a sort of oat-based soup, but said like that it might not seem ideal for a tasty breakfast. And instead, you will be surprised, oat porridge can be a healthy , nutritious but also tasty alternative to the classic cup of milk and cookies!
The benefits of porridge
What are the advantages of this preparation?In addition to being really cheap , porridge made with oats has many beneficial properties that are really ideal for breakfast.
This cereal is in fact rich in proteins , perfect therefore for those who practice sports or are following a slimming diet; it has anti-inflammatory properties that in the long term can do a lot of good to our body and it also has an excellent supply of fibers, useful for reducing the feeling of hunger and helping the functionality of the intestine.
Oats are also a recommended food for those with high cholesterol , because they are rich in beta-glucans, or for those suffering from diabetes , because they have a low glycemic index.
Oat porridge is quick to prepare and can be enriched with fresh or dried fruit, spices, chocolate, peanut butter or any other ingredient you can think of! It's all up to your taste and imagination.
Normally the recipe involves cooking the oats in a saucepan, but today we decided to prepare the porridge in an even more practical way, using our Multifunction Blender, which will practically do all the work by itself! We will use a vanilla vegetable milk, a banana and lots of fresh fruit, for a start to the day full of color and energy.

Ingredients
- 50 g of oat flakes
- 200ml vanilla soy milk
- 1 banana
- Two teaspoons of honey or other sweetener (optional)
- Fresh fruit to garnish (blueberries, kiwi, strawberries, blackberries and raspberries)
Preparation
- Place the oats and milk into the Blender cup
- Also add 1/2 banana after mashing it with a fork
- If you want a sweeter taste, or maybe your vanilla milk isn't already sweetened, you can add two teaspoons of honey now or later, as a garnish.
- Select the Porridge program and let the multifunctional blender work
- Once ready, put the porridge in small bowls and serve with fresh fruit as a garnish (you can also use the other half of the banana)
Suggestions
One of the main advantages of porridge is that this recipe can be customized in a thousand ways!Do you prefer chocolate to vanilla? Then use a cocoa drink, or cow's milk and add a pinch of bitter cocoa powder.
Instead of fresh fruit, do you prefer dried fruit?
You can garnish with walnuts, almonds, raisins, coconut flakes, goji berries, chia seeds, just to name a few.
Are you greedy?
Add a spoonful of peanut butter, almond butter or cocoa cream as a garnish.
There are no limits to your imagination and you can change every day!
